As you’ll recall, the 2000 film was a smash hit, starring Russell Crowe as the former Roman general Maximus, who is forced into slavery and determined to avenge his family’s murder.

The film also starredJoaquin Phoenixas the antagonistic ruler Commodus and Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Maximus’s former love interest and Commodus’s older sister.
