In case you missed it, Angelina is officiallyhalfway to EGOT statusafterThe Outsiderswon big at Sunday’sTony Awards.
The musical, which Angelina produced, received twelve nominations andwon four awards: Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Musical all round — the latter earning Angie her first Tony.
The Outsidersis an adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s 1967 coming-of-age novel centered around the conflict between two rival gangs: the Greasers and the Socs. Angelina was inspired to work on the Broadway adaptation by her 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne, who was the producer’s assistant.
And now, with Vivienne to thank for her mom’s first Tony win, Salma is taking a moment to sing their praises.
On Monday, Salma tookto Instagramto celebrate Angelina’s win alongside some photographs from the ceremony. “There are some rare humans we already know are brilliant, but it’s hard to grasp to what degree,” she wrote in the caption. “My dear Angie, you don’t cease to impress and inspire me, especially because I know that everything you do comes from a place of love.”
In case you didn’t know, Salma and Angelina became close friends aftermakingEternalstogetherin 2020. Since then, the pair appear to have stayed close in each other’s lives,celebrating birthdays togetherand hanging out with their kids.
