Now how do we actually make this encounter ?

If there is one character who should absolutely appear in the upcomingThe Officerevival series, please let it be Creed.

A comedic highlight among a cast of literally all comedic highlights, Creed was known for his oddball and mysterious personality in the original series. You just never really knew what you would get when the quality assurance manager at Dunder Mifflin spoke.

If you didn’t know, the new series will follow employees at a long-suffering Midwestern newspaper.White House Plumbers’Domhnall Gleeson andThe White Lotus' Sabrina Impacciatorewere cast as leads. The only real connection to the original series will reportedly be the documentary crew that follows them around.

It seems unlikely that characters from the original series will return for the new show. However, actor and musician Creed Bratton, who played his namesake, recently shared a genius idea for how his character could appear in the revival.

Better yet, Creed said the idea came from his costarRainn Wilson, who playedDwight Schrute.

As for how Creed could be involved, he toldRolling Stonein an interview published on Friday, “Rainn Wilson said that I should be on it with no explanation, just sitting at a desk in a backroom, and I’lI mumble something occasionally when they walk by, but they’ll never say what I do or mention my name.”

Honestly, it’s such a perfect idea. It’s exactly confusing but believable enough that Creed left Scranton, Pennsylvania, and found himself at a newspaper in the Midwest.

But don’t get your hopes up because Creed squashed the idea that he’d make a return. “The thing is, we couldn’t get the original group together anyway. That’s impossible. And I won’t actually be on the new show,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’m just very grateful I was on the original one. I get up every day and think about how lucky I am. But I’ve done it.”

He wished the new cast the best of luck. “Let them go and have their run, make more people laugh. Makemelaugh,” Creed said. “I’m sure it’ll be great. You wouldn’t thinkParks and Recwould have turned around and been great, but it wasgreat.”

Creed isn’t the firstOfficealum to denounce the possibility of appearing in the new show. Last month, Steve Carell told theHollywood Reporterat thepremiere of his new filmIF(directed by John Krasinski), “I will be watching, but I will not be showing up. That is off the cards. It’s just a new thing, and there’s really no reason for my character to show up in something like that. But I’m excited about it. It sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea.”

Here’s hoping thatOfficeshowrunner and reboot co-creator Greg Daniels will read that Rolling Stone interview and incorporate Creed into the new series. We need it ASAP.
