" I ’m very majestic of the work I did at Hallmark for 15 years and eff all my admirer there . "

Candace Cameron Bureis defending her decision to leave the Hallmark Channel two years after she switched to the Great American Family Channel.

The formerFull HouseandFuller Housestar has acted in over two dozen Hallmark Channel movies, and she was known for her Christmas movies and her role as Aurora Teagarden for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. FromMoonlight & Mistletoe(2008) toThe Christmas Contest(2021),Candace was more or less the face of Hallmark.

But, in 2022, Candace left Hallmark to take an executive role as chief content officer at Great American Family.

Candace told theWall Street Journal, “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core. I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”

For context, Great American Family, formerly known as Great American Country network, is owned by Bill Abbott, the former CEO of Hallmark’s parent company, Crown Media. He left the company in 2020 after backlash for removing a Zola commercial featuring two women getting married from the network, as reported byVariety.

“This is going to be content that is trusted, that’s wholesome, that’s family-friendly,” Candace told Variety. She reiterated that Great American Family content would be “more forward in the faith.”

One person wrote, “She does not get to decide what’s Christian. She decide what she likes & support, but she shouldn’t be speaking on all of Christianity.”

She does not get to decide what ’s Christian . She settle what she likes & support , but she should n’t be speak on all of Christianity .

Contrarily, another person wrote, “I support her decision, very proud of her for sticking by her belief. So it’s ok for the LGBTQ community to act freely and have big parades and demonstrate their freedom but not ok for this lovely lady to have the right to choose……… time for the community to look in a mirror.”

I stand her determination , very majestic of her for sticking by her impression . So it ’s fine for the LGBTQ community to act freely and have big parades and demostrate their exemption but not ok for this adorable gentlewoman to have the rightfield to choose … …… time for the community to look in a mirror .

According to Hollywood Reporter, Candace responded to backlash, saying, “All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people,” Candace wrote at the time. “It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone … I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately.”

Now, in case it wasn’t clear back then, Candace has spoken up again to defend her decision to join Great American Family in an Instagram story posted on 18 May 2025. “It wasn’t so much about leaving as it was about an opportunity to grow a new network that puts faith and family at the forefront of its content.”

“I’m very proud of the work I did at Hallmark for 15 years and love all my friends there,” she said.

“I’m more than an actor. Growth in my company as well as my achievements in business is extremely important to me.”
