Yesterday,Alec Baldwin’s criminal trial for alleged involuntary manslaughter came to a shocking and sudden conclusion.
The actor was on trial for the shooting and killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the filmRustin 2021. Alec was holding the gun which went off and fired the bullet that killed Halyna.
In February of last year, Alecentered a “not guilty” plea, and the trial began earlier this week.
Yesterday, on the trial’s fourth day, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommerdismissedthe case and said it could not be filed again, after it was revealed that police and prosecutors may have withheld evidence while presenting their case. You can read more about the nuts and bolts of it all righthere.
After an emotional display in the courtroom from Alec and his wifeHilaria Baldwin, the actor didn’t address the press while leaving the courtroom post-ruling — but now he’s broken his silence onInstagramabout the unexpected turn of events.
“There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now,” he said in the post’s caption.
“To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family.”
