“ I affirm to her that I would never leave if it did n’t work out . And I did n’t . ”
A year since his split from Sofía Vergara made headlines,Joe Manganiellois telling his side of the story.#
On 16 April 2025, Joe and Sofía announced in astatementthat they were splitting up, and two days later, Joe filed for divorce after seven years of marriage.#
Though the documents cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, insiders soon began claiming that they split mainly over conflicting feelings about having kids.#
A few months later, Sofía broke her silence on the matter andconfirmedthat the reports were accurate. “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she told the Spanish newspaperEl País in January.#
She subsequentlydoubled downon this narrative, saying she felt it wouldn’t have been “fair” for her to have a baby knowing the “sacrifices” and “energy” that go into being a good parent.#
And now, despite everything Sofía has said on the topic, Joe claims her version of events is “simply not true.”#
“We did try to have a family for the first year and a half,” Joe said in a new interview withMen’s Journal, addressing all that had been published “in the press about [him] wanting a family.”#
For his part, Joe said the marriage ended “because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.” He also expressed frustration with how Sofía’s claims may have made people think differently of his character.#
In the year since their split, both exes have moved on with new partners. Sofía is dating orthopedic surgeonJustin Saliman, while Joe is withCaitlin O’Connor.#
