Starting a prayer to play back Dibs … who ’s with me ?
After a long few months of hibernation, summer is finally here! And I don’t know about you, but every time summer comes around, I start thinking about what the season felt like as a kid.#
So, I decided to compile some classic Canadian summer memories in case you’re looking for a bit of sunny nostalgia.#
.Eating Dibs straight out of the freezer (before they sadly got discontinued).#
.Spending your nights watching Popcorn Pix movies on Family Channel.#
.Witnessing the iconic release ofHigh School Musical 2in 2007, and just wishing you could spend your summer at Lava Springs like Ryan and Sharpay.#
.Getting excited to eat freezies, only to struggle to open them every time and cut the inside of your mouth.#
.Making countless bracelets and lanyards with boondoggle — perhaps you were a wizard at learning new stitches.#
.Having to wait until June for warm weather to actually arrive.#
.And when summer weather did finally arrive, spending all day sweating in class because of the lack of AC.#
.Getting your summer reading list for school, and just knowing you won’t touch any of the books on that list.#
.Eating bowls upon bowls of Munchies and Bits and Bites as a snack by the pool, and ranking your favorite parts of each mix in your head.#
.Running to catch theice creamtruck every day, and feeling immense joy when you saw it driving around your city.#
.Lounging in Muskoka for at least one weekend per summer…#
.…and grabbing a Webers burger on the way, of course.#
.Spending hours swimming in the lake, no matter how freezing it was…#
.…or spending long hours at friends' houses to use their pools, if you didn’t have one yourself.#
.And when you weren’t swimming, you probably spent many days making keychains with Perler beads, only for the wind to knock them over.#
.Listening to hidden-gem Canadian artists like Simple Plan and Shawn Desman with the windows down, feeling all the summer vibes.#
.Taking road trips with your parents only to fight with your siblings in the car, and for Ontario kids, stopping at ONRoutes along the way.#
.Getting Kawartha Dairy ice cream whenever you could, because it’s simply the best.#
.Begging your parents to let you go to MarineLand, and singing the theme song all day long.#
.Wearing the kids Banana Boat sunscreen, and constantly smelling like it regardless of how recently you put it on.#
.And finally, getting excited to shop for new school supplies at Staples in late August.#
